The History of Goodill Roofing and Cladding Limited
Returning again to industrial roofing in 1991 when Goodwill Roofing and Cladding was formed, and still operates from its offices in Sutton, Nr. Ely, Cambridgeshire. Roland’s wife Jenny joined Goodwill Roofing and Cladding in 1992, as the business expanded. Whilst keeping to the concept of Schumacher’s ‘Small is Beautiful’ thus allowing Goodwill Roofing and Cladding Ltd to offer a wide range of services with greater flexibility, whilst operating with a more economic overhead structure (benefitting all), without impacting too greatly on the local environment.
Jenny and Roland’s son Roly started helping out from time to time since 1999 when they won a large project for Wates Construction at Chesham. This involved framing out tapered concrete columns to make parallel and vertical, also framing out all of the walls, gutters and beams to bring everything square. This was achieved by using Ash and Lacey’s Ashgrid system, which then allowed this large building to be over-clad with Kingspan’s flat architectural panel on 3 faces, including some inset panels in corrugated cladding at the loading bay elevations. Kingspan were so pleased with the finished results that it was a main feature in their Millennium catalogue.
Roly has since joined Goodwill Roofing and Cladding full time in July 2014 and achieved the position of Contracts Director in 2017. He now manages the Company which enjoyed its largest turnover in 2017.
Jenny and Roland have now taken a back seat and are still connected in an advisory capacity.
